The Deviator uses strategic hybrid-mapped construction, placing insulating material through the core while using stretch fabric through the arms, collar, and underarms for improved mobility and temperature regulation. The result is a layer that provides warmth where you need it without trapping excessive heat during strenuous activity.
VerticalX™ Octa insulation offers an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio while maintaining an open structure that allows heat and moisture to move away from the body. It is significantly lighter than traditional polyester insulation and requires no separate interior liner, helping reduce bulk while improving breathability.
Outdoor Research's ActiveTemp™ treatment helps regulate body temperature and manage moisture during changing activity levels. Combined with quick-drying, moisture-wicking fabrics, the Deviator is particularly well suited for stop-and-go movement in cool conditions.
A 13-inch half-length front zipper provides additional ventilation when output increases, while raglan sleeves, Dynamic Reach construction, and movement-mirroring stretch provide unrestricted mobility. Ergonomic thumb holes help keep the sleeves securely in place when layering beneath a shell or jacket.
A secure zippered chest pocket provides convenient storage for small essentials, while flat-seam construction reduces bulk and helps prevent chafing during extended wear.
